de gustibus non est disputandum Phrase
Meaning:
of tastes there is nothing to be disputed
Comment
Less literally, "there is no accounting for taste", because they are judged subjectively and not objectively: everyone has his own and none deserve preminence. The complete phrase is "de gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum" ("when we talk about tastes and colours there is nothing to be disputed"). Probably of Scholastic origin; see Wiktionary.
